Disco Sucks!
I just watched a documentary on the Disco Demolition Night that took place in 1979 at Comiskey Park in Chicago. You can order the DVD here, but here’s some footage I found on YouTube of the local news coverage from that night.
What’s so amazing is that it didn’t take much to incite the insane riot! All Steve Dahl did was blow-up a bunch of Disco records and sing a goofy song parody of Rod Stewart’s “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?”
People went nuts… for about 40 minutes. As soon as the police stormed in wearing riot gear, the field was cleared. Memories of the ‘68 Democratic National Convention had given the Chicago police quite a reputation.
