I kind of owe everything in my life to public access television and it’s awesome to see what Chris Gethard is doing with it today. His show reminds me a lot of Glenn O’Brien’s, TV Party.

From 1978-1982 Glenn did one of the coolest things to ever be on television. Chris Stein from Blondie was his co-host. Jean-Michel Basquiat hung out in the control room and made art with a character generator. Klaus Nomi would give cooking demonstrations. David Letterman was a fan.

Here is a 90 minute documentary on TV Party. You should watch it. It’s important.

Chris Gethard Confronts His Internet Tormentor

Awh, I feel bad for people that aren’t on television and have no level of celebrity. It must be a hard way to go through life. It’s nice you gave this guy some of your time, Chris! <3

Very excited for America to get to know Chris Gethard tonight.  I’ve been lucky to know Chris for a decade and I still remember how funny he was in his Level 2 UCB improv show.  Chris is one of the nicest guys ever, he has Morrissey’s signature tattooed on his arm and could kill you with his bare hands using Jujitsu.
