Harry Nilsson "Popeye" Soundtrack and Demos!
Thanks to the Anonymous person who sent me this link to Nilsson’s Popeye demos! And thanks to cocaine for making them possible!
Wow I’d really like to know what your excuse is for not watching The Monkees sing this classic Nilsson song.
This is a copy of Harry Nilsson’s soundtrack to “Popeye” signed by Paul Thomas Anderson and Adam Sandler. When I first saw the trailer for “Punch-Drunk Love” I noticed it used the song “He Needs Me” from the “Popeye” soundtrack, as sung by Shelley Duvall.
In 2002, I was lucky enough to attend an early screening of “Punch-Drunk Love” featuring a Q&A with Anderson and Sandler. After the film, I asked them both to sign my copy of the Nilsson soundtrack. They were more than happy to do it!
I don’t usually like to bug people to sign stuff, but I’m really glad I did. Pretty sure I’m the only guy in the world with a copy of the “Popeye” soundtrack signed by Paul Thomas Anderson and Adam Sandler.
